Academy / Soundraw Ladder / Level 1

Soundraw: AI Music Foundations

Level 1 takes you from first generation to a finished, correctly licensed delivery. Twelve sessions cover what controllable AI actually means, a complete interface tour, the MWHQ Soundraw Core Formula, parameter architecture and genre crossing, block structure and the four-level energy system, building a recognisable palette, reference approximation by ear, the four-section QC checklist, Mixer Mode, export standards, the MWHQ pipeline, and the rights conversation that governs everything else. By Session 12 you can be handed a brief.

A Free Tier That Is a Full Classroom

Generation, editing and the entire Mixer are available before you pay anything — only download is gated. Every student can complete every practical exercise in this level at zero cost, which is why the course works in a room as well as it does alone.

The Core Formula

Length, tempo, genre, mood, theme — in that order, every time. Session 3 teaches what each parameter independently controls, why the order is fixed, and how to diagnose a failed generation by identifying which of the five was wrong instead of re-rolling blindly.

Read the Licence, Keep the Career

Session 12 covers what SOUNDRAW owns, what you own, the three prohibitions, and the modification threshold for distribution. Every student who has got into trouble with this platform got into trouble there. It is taught last so it is the thing you carry out.

What You'll Cover

Every screen. Every parameter. Every session with a deliverable.

The 12 sessions run in deliberate sequence: what controllable AI means and where Soundraw sits against Suno, Udio and AIVA; a full five-screen interface tour; the Core Formula and the three-pass rule; compound parameters and genre crossing; block structure and the energy system; building a constrained genre palette; approximating a reference by ear when no upload feature exists; the four-section QC checklist including licensing; a full working session in Mixer Mode; export formats and the counterintuitive plan structure; a complete MWHQ pipeline run; and the rights position.

Every session ends with an objective completion standard you can test without an instructor present. Students leave with a published piece of scored content, a documented genre vocabulary map, a personal QC checklist, and a one-page licensing position paper in their own words.

Where This Level Fits

Level 1 teaches you to shape what the engine offers. Level 2 teaches you to write the arrangement.

Level 1 establishes reliable generation, structural editing and export capability. You leave able to take a brief with a duration and an emotional peak and deliver against it in minutes — which is the prerequisite for Level 2's Mixer work, cue library construction and client-ready delivery.

This level is right for video producers, podcasters, game developers, marketers and educators who need instrumental music regularly. It is not right for anyone whose work is song-based or vocal-led — Soundraw generates no vocals on any plan, and this curriculum says so in Session 1 rather than Session 11.

Next Step

Regenerating is usually the wrong move.

Every instinct built from prompt-based tools says that when a track is not right you roll again. On this platform that instinct is expensive — you throw away a structure that was 90% correct to chase one that will also be 90% correct in different places. Three generations maximum, then edit. Level 1 gives you the map, the formula and the editing sequence. Every session ends with a deliverable.
